The first step is acknowledgment. Everything else comes later. We must first recognize the situation; only then can we find a solution.
Yet, we often do the opposite, ignorance. As social animals, we live to connect, and in doing so, we avoid conflicts of all shapes and sizes, whether in our personal lives or at work.
We are not always honest with ourselves or others. We ignore realities.
To make an educated guess about what to do next, you need facts. True facts only come from acknowledgment, and without them, solving the problem becomes impossible.
One of our core superpowers as a species is our ability to build narratives and believe in them as if they’re real. Much of our life revolves around imagined constructs. But when we begin to ignore the truth, we create a different story for ourselves, one that doesn’t reflect reality and we believe in that story instead.
Take a step back. Acknowledge what’s around you, what you’re trying to solve, and what truly needs to be done.
The first step is acknowledgment. Everything else comes later.
